General Distribution

Our pantry, located at 3775 Rt.209, Stone Ridge, NY, is the heart of our work. We distribute every week of the year for in person pick up on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Emergency deliveries on Thursday mornings by appointment only, please call at least one day in advance to schedule a delivery.

Participating guests call to place their grocery orders and set up a pick up or schedule an emergency delivery. Guests may receive three days’ worth of food per family member once a week.

Our “Guest Choice” model allows families to choose the foods they want and need from our nutritionally balanced grocery lists. We also offer personal care items, including diapers and wipes, for adults and babies; personal hygiene items; household cleaning products; paper goods; and dog and cat food for our families' furry friends.

This program was started in March 2020 in response to COVID, as the demands from the pandemic fell outside of our usual operations. This program's funding covers the cost of PPE, cleaning and other supplies, and specialized and additional food needed during mass crises. This program helps provide 3-days worth of non-perishable food that is easily accessible! One of our main goals is to make sure that people have safe and easy access to food, even if they're only looking for temporary assistance. Emergency bags and kids emergency bags can be picked up 24/7 in the white box located in our entryway.

Weekend Backpacks

Note - During COVID, the Food Pantry and the RVCSD have cooperated by distributing weekend backpacks of food along with students’ school supplied meals, thus ensuring that our children continue to get the food they need.

During the school year, our volunteers assemble backpacks containing a weekend’s worth of nutritious food— enough for three meals and healthy snacks— to assist those students who may have need for additional food support when school breakfast and lunches are not available.

The school district professional staff, nurses and guidance counselors make the referrals, and our volunteers deliver the backpacks to Rondout Valley Central School District (RVCSD) elementary and middle schools so that they can be distributed to students.

Students take the backpacks home and return them the following Monday. We can accommodate a range of dietary issues such as allergies, lactose intolerance and diabetes. Now serving about 67 students a week, the program continues to grow.  In 2021-2022 school year over 10,000 meals were provided to students.

Summer Breakfast and Lunch Program

The Summer Breakfast and Lunch program picks up where our Backpack Program leaves off. It provides breakfast, lunch, and snack foods for the children of our guests.

Each summer, the pantry serves nearly 5,000 meals between June and August, and every year the need continues to grow!

Holiday Baskets

Three holidays a year, the food pantry volunteers assemble food baskets with all of the traditional holiday trimmings. Local churches, businesses, organizations, and individuals provide specific items for the baskets. We tailor baskets to family size and dietary needs. This program is one of our volunteers' favorites, as it unifies our community to help create wonderful holiday memories for the families of our guests.

Kids' Holiday Bags

Our Kids’ Bags Program ties into our Holiday Basket Program. In addition to the meal baskets, we provide a bag of food for each child to enjoy over the school's holiday break. Each bag includes three days of Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP) approved foods and fun, seasonal items!

Rondout Valley High School Pantry Closet

Note: During COVID this program is limited by health and safety regulations

This program began in 2019 with the idea of providing easily accessible snack foods and drinks to high school students. Our goal is always to keep the dignity of our guests at the forefront. To that end, RVHS has a pantry closet for foods that are distributed to classrooms- allowing students to discreetly choose foods that they can take home or enjoy later in the day.
